About Us
Scouting is an international movement with over 28 million members worldwide. We believe in bringing people together. We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always.
We’re part of a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures, we’re Scouts and everyone is welcome here. Every week in the UK, we help almost half a million people aged 4-25 develop skills for life.
Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. We sometimes go on great adventures like- camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. But every week we also get to hang out with our friends– having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.
At the 1st Lyminge Scout Group, we prepare young people with skills for life, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. There’s something for every young person, whatever their ability.
The Programme
We aim to help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The Programme is a continuous progression of training, activities and awards that covers everything that young people do in Scouting from the age of 4 to 25.
They do this by taking part in a variety of activities and new experiences exploring the outdoors participating in teams and taking responsibility. In each section a range of badges and awards are there to support all aspects of Scouting. The programme is designed to be progressive through the sections to offer young people an appropriate level of challenge, including leadership, teamwork and personal development.

Our commitment
In Scouting, our adults have a responsibility to make sure that the Programme is fun and exciting. We must also make sure that it is safe. The Scout Association’s policies, rules, code of behaviour, advice on Child Protection and safety policy are there to ensure our young people stay safe while they enjoy themselves and learn.
Who can be a Scout?
Scouting is open to all young people aged 4 to 25 of every faith or none, and every background. There are also plenty of opportunities for adults to become involved as Leaders, Assistants or Administrators.
