Help needed!

In common with other Scout groups, our Group is run entirely by volunteers. Scouting is about everyday people working as leaders and supporters in communities, giving young people confidence, a sense of purpose, life values and outdoor skills that are hard to find anywhere else.

Today, there are nearly 60,000 young people on the waiting list to join us in the UK. We’re more relevant and more needed than ever, but it’s not always easy to keep up with the demand.

That’s where you come in.

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. Lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare.

In particular we are currently looking for volunteers to fill gaps on the executive, ideally a new parent representative from each of the units- squirrels, beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers.

Our trustees help behind-the-scenes doing various bits and bobs to ensure scouting is safe and fun, like maintaining the hut, developing a new website, organising social events and ensuring funding is in place. We meet a handful of times a year, but most of our ‘business’ is conducted via WhatsApp these days.

Volunteering for Scouting is one of the most fun, rewarding and positive things you can ever do. If you’d like to find out a little more, please feel free to get in touch.
